Patient Resources

We have curated an extensive list of resources for a variety of conditions including adrenal diseases, osteoporosis, thyroid diseases, and much more.

Our Laboratory

We have state-of-the-art testing equipment and well-trained professionals. Our lab was awarded the COLA Laboratory Excellence Award.
The roots of our clinic go back to the 1920’s when insulin first became available for the treatment of diabetes. Through the years, PDEC physicians have been leaders in the research and advancement of treatment for endocrine diseases. All our physicians are certified as Diplomates in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

As a specialty clinic, PDEC does not provide primary care services. The majority of our patients are referred by their primary care providers who value the expertise of our doctors in diagnosing and treating hormonal disorders including problems with the thyroid, pancreas, pituitary or adrenal glands. Among the most common conditions treated are Diabetes Mellitus Types 1 and 2, Thyroid Disorders and Osteoporosis. If you believe you have an endocrine condition you should contact your primary care provider first. They can evaluate your symptoms and refer you to a specialist in our clinic if they think it is appropriate. Thank you for visiting our website and considering us to participate with you in your care.

PDEC providers are unmatched when it comes to experience in assisting patients utilizing the latest in diabetes technology!

It hasn’t been that long since insulin injections were the only way to treat patients with diabetes.  Over the past several years technology has advanced to include not only oral and injectable medications but also devices to assist patients in monitoring their blood sugar levels.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems (CGMS) & Insulin Pumps

Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices worn by patients do just as the name describes – continually monitor blood glucose levels!  Insulin pumps help eliminate the need for multiple daily injections and simplify the delivery of medications.  All PDEC providers are well versed in many brands of insulin pumps available on the market today as well as  supporting several CGMS options including Dexcom, Guardian, Libre and the new Eversense implanted CGMS system. Utilizing one of these devices along with an insulin pump has revolutionized the way patients manage their diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

PDEC providers currently care for hundreds of patients living and thriving with Type 1 Diabetes. With deep roots in scientific research, PDEC has over 50+ years of experience in treating patients with with both Type 1  and Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The volume of research into updated treatment options for patients with Type 2 Diabetes has skyrocketed in the past few years.  PDEC providers work with each individual patient to find the best and most cost effective treatment for them.

Pregnancy & Diabetes

Many years ago women with diabetes had a difficult time finding well educated providers to monitor their health during this exciting journey.  PDEC has been here to help along the way and we continue to provide support and education throughout pregnancy.

Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) for Thyroid Nodules

A non-surgical solution for shrinking thyroid nodules.  RFA is performed in the comfort our office rather than an outside facility or surgical center.  For more information on this procedure please contact our office.

Thyroid Cancer

PDEC’s board certified endocrinologists are leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of Thyroid Cancer.  Within the past two years 700+ thyroid cancer patients and their families have struggled with this devastating illness. Our caring staff understands their specific needs and the various treatment options for this multi-faceted disease.

Osteoporosis

Treatment options for Osteoporosis have greatly increased in recent years.  Every year PDEC providers help nearly 2,000 patients better understand what they can do to strengthen bones and decrease their risk of fracture

“When I was placed in the hands of Dr. Bergstrom, after years of Type 1 Diabetes, I was given a new life.  This man is more than knowledgeable he also takes a true role in your life as a guide, a friend and a brother.  My diabetes is what they call challenging.  I am always changing the way my disease is displayed.  I am grateful knowing I have the best there is in care and will never change my doctor as long as he is still practicing.  I have had to make insurance changes since I have Medicare and won’t give in to a cheaper plan if he isn’t on it.  I may be forced to pay a little more but if I do I won’t blink a eye.  Great service and care doesn’t have a price.  Thank you Dr. For everything!”
